To start chatting with your matches, just tap the Matches tab (which looks like a speech bubble) in your navigation bar.
Your Turn:
Your Turn is a way to remind users when it’s their turn to respond in a Conversation. We’ve found this helps reduce ghosting and leads to better connections.
The red badge/counter on the app icon on your phone is the sum of incoming likes, new Matches, and Conversations where it is your turn to respond. The blue badge/counter on the Matches tab inside your Hinge app is a sum of Conversations where it is your turn to respond.
If it’s your turn to respond but you’re not interested in talking to someone, you can simply Unmatch them. If it’s your turn to respond, and you don't want to get rid of the Match, but you don't feel like responding right away or you want to clear the badge/counter, you can hide that Match (by sliding left and tapping Hide) and return to that Conversation later.
Hidden Chats:
The hide option allows you to remove a Match from the main view in your Matches drawer. If that person messages you, they’ll “un-hide” and reappear at the top of your list. Scroll down to the bottom of your Match drawer to see your list of people you've hidden. Any Match that hasn’t had any activity in 14 days will be automatically hidden but don’t worry, you can unhide whenever you like!
Block/removing someone from my Matches:
When viewing a member's profile, simply tap the three dots at the top right and tap 'Unmatch.'
Unmatching is a permanent action. You will not see their profile again, nor will they see yours.
When you Unmatch a profile from your Matches screen, you will immediately disappear from that member's view and they will not be able to view or retrieve the Conversation or the Match.
Why did one of my Matches disappear if I didn’t Unmatch them?
When a member disappears from your Matches it could be for one of two reasons:
-
That member manually or accidentally Unmatched your profile from their Matches screen.
-
They deliberately or inadvertently deauthorized their profile.
Reporting another member:
-
When viewing a member's profile, simply select the three dots at the top right and tap 'Report.'
-
Next, tap on a reason why you are reporting this person. You can select 'Inappropriate Profile,' 'Inappropriate Messaging,' 'Fake Profile,' or 'Other.'
Reporting is an anonymous and permanent action. You will not see their profile again, nor will they see yours.
When you report a profile from Matches, you will immediately disappear from that member's view and they will not be able to view or retrieve the Conversation or Match.
Check out our Terms of Service for how we handle reports. You can also reach out with any additional details or screen grabs by submitting a request to our User Support team.
